I’ve seen a few Landslides in my summers of Montana along the finest trout streams in America. They are always very scary. The sound of them along with giant boulders hitting the earth makes your knees a bit weak. The other Landslide comes with a sultry gravely alto voice wrapped in large scarves on a mic stand:)
I began teaching myself acoustic guitar in 1972 after I fell in love with all the acoustic writer singers of the 60’s and 70’s. When I retired in 1997 from full time entertaining, I put the guitars away and began focusing on two new companies I’d formed. Long Story Short:) , After a two heart attacks and a triple bypass, I decided to come back and learn and play jazz standards from the American Song Book on Piano. Five years ago I committed to doing an acoustic night. I pulled out my old acoustics and had to start over again with both hands for a month before I could play anything:) Gig went great, I had fun. My left hand callouses throbbed for a few days.
Then this last Winter in AZ, I decided to bring a guitar along because just about every gig down there is Tex Mex, Country, Americana, Folk and classic rock junk. I figured I’d take my last set and just play some old stuff from the early days. It went over so well I decided to begin to do it in MN as well in the summers. Most my clients only know me for my Jazz Standards gigs and I’ve been really surprised by the response of this music to that Jazz group that follows me loving these old classics.
So, when you see me next time outside of a SHOW, I’ll likely be playing Guitar the last hour:)
Heres half a song of Fleetwood Mac from this Summer.
